Condition: Very Good
A Late Edo to Meiji Period, 19th century suite of ten highly details silk paintings depicting various Noh performances and scenes, all accentuated and highlighted with gold.
There is significant attention to detail in each painting, with the vestments, kimonos, and masks all heavily detailed, with some degree of shading techniques used.
Each silk painting has been backed with paper for preservation and is bordered with gold.
Ten silk paintings, 24.1 x 29 cm
These paintings are in very good shape, with very little wear or staining to eight of them. One of the paintings has suffered a bit of damage to the verso, almost forming a tear, but this is not as noticeable to the recto. A few of the backing papers are torn, but the silk paintings are unaffected.
