A Late Edo Period, early to mid 19th century emakimono handscroll, tentatively dubbed Tori to Sakana no Makimono, or a Birds and Fish Scroll. As the title would entail, the scroll contains a vast suite of nicely painted fish and birds, all varying in size and detail. The designs are all largely fantastical and humorous in nature, and clearly an original composition, not copied after any prior examples.
The emakimono has been written on thin washi paper and bound in scroll format, without any covers. A plastic stick has been loosely added to maintain some sort of core and provide pseudo jikusaki (knobs).

This emakimono is in good shape, with some rubbing and wear to the initial portion, and light spotting in places. Some of the glue to the sections has come apart at the ends.
