As the self-appointed title states, the manuscript is a sketchbook of various tigers, and a few other animals, most likely being copied from paintings by prior master artists. Most likely, the unknown artists was a student at one of Japan many art schools of the period.
There are dozens of illustrations of tigers in various poses, as well as a few different animals near the end, all in the Sumi-E style of ink wash painting.
One manuscript in quarto (27.2 x 20 cm), 57 pages of Sumi-E ink wash paintings
This volume is in good shape, the title page lacking, and wear and staining to the covers. The upper corner of the first two leaves is lacking, partially affecting the illustrations. There is some soiling and staining throughout.
