Title: The History of Pendennis, 1849-1850. First Edition
Author: William Makepeace Thackeray
Publisher: Bradbury and Evans, London
Condition: Good

A mid 19th century first edition of Thackeray’s popular novel, The History of Pendennis, being a tale of the titular main character who travels to London in order to seek his role in life and society. Just like the rest of Thackeray’s works, Pendennis provides a unique and satiric picture of aristocratic society, human character, and 19th century England.

There are 40 full page engraved plates, two engraved frontispiece, and numerous in-text illustrations.

Two volumes finely bound into one book in octavo, VIII+384, XII372 pages

This volume is in good shape, with some rubbing and wear to the binding, with the spine peeling, and the top of the hinges starting to split. The binding is cocked. There is some foxing throughout, heavier to the plates.
