A late to mid 17th century mixture of Biblical and devotional texts, beginning with the Book of Common Prayer, and administration of sacraments, and other rites and ceremonies of the Church, according to the use of the Church of England.
Also included is a complete Barker edition of The Holy Bible Containing the Old Testament and the New, Newly Translated out of Original Tongues, and with the former translations, diligently compared and revised. Complimenting that is A Brief Concordance or Table to the Bible, which is finally followed up with The Whole Book of Psalmes, Collected into English Metre.
This volume bears several early provenance inscriptions, but the earliest is dated 1673 for one Hanah Thornbery, and another dated 1723 for Martha Manaton. Interesting to note that both dated inscriptions of ownership were by devout women.
This volume most recently belonged to the library collection of Mulberry House, a former rectory of High Ongar church.
This volume has been finely bound in contemporary full leather, with beautiful Cambridge panel gilt tooling, as well as a monogram of HT to the center of the covers. There are four silver corner fittings, and two functioning clasps, and the fore-edge also has gilt gauffering.

This volume is in very good shape, with some rubbing and wear to the binding, and a bit of leather loss to the head of the spine. The first few leaves have a small corrosion hole to the right-side margin due to the clasps, with a couple of characters being affected. Two of the leaves in the Morning Prayer from the BoCP have been mangled but are still mostly legible. A few of the upper right corners have tiny tears, not impacting text, and many of the lower right corners have tiny dogearing. There is minor soiling and staining throughout, mainly to the right-side margins.
