Author: Angelus de Clavasio
Publisher: Venice, Georgius Arrivabenus
Condition: Very Good
Price: 2500
A late 15th century edition of de Clavasio’s Summa Angelica de Casibus Conscientiae, containing 659 articles in alphabetical order, and effectively serving as the equivalent of a dictionary for moral theology.
First published in Chivasso in 1486 by Jacobinus Suigus, it was a great success and went through 31 different editions until 1520.
This copy has a few sparse annotations to the margins, as well as several charming manicules from a contemporary or near contemporary owner.
One vellum bound volume in octavo, 540 leaves
This volume is in very good shape, with minor rubbing to the binding, and two small cracks to the rear board. The first handful of leaves are heavily worn and slightly torn to the margins, with some restorations to the upper corner of the second leaf, as well as the penultimate one colophon with minor letter loss. Some is some soiling and dampstaining to the lower margins.
