A Late Edo Period, early 19th century edition of the Soutaika Onna Rongo Zue, or Illustrated Guide to the Analects for Women, also known as Lessons for Women, an educational primer attributed to Han dynasty female intellectual Ban Zhao.
The Lessons outline the four virtues a woman must abide by, being proper virtue, proper speech, proper countenance, and proper conduct. The book itself describes the status and position of women in society.
This edition is profusely illustrated throughout by Murata Yoshikoto, with 36 pages of woodblock illustrations, several being full page examples.
The title page and final leaf is lacking, as is the publisher information. Carefully comparing to a digitized copy indicates this is the Bunka 12 edition.

This volume is in good shape, with wear and staining to the covers. There is minor, scattered staining throughout.
