An extremely scarce late 16th century edition of the collected sermons and letters of the late medieval theologian, Dominican and Bishop of Couserans, Petrus de Palude, being his Sermons or narratives in the gospels, and of the season and of the feasts of the saints. Parts Winter and Summer, and additionally the Lenten Epistles, which are commonly called the New Testament.
These volumes have been bound in blind stamped pigskin over wooden boards. There is a tooled image of The Crucifixion to the front covers, and an image of Jesus conquering Satan to the rear. There are roll stamped border icons. All volumes have functioning clasps.
These volumes bear the stamp of the dissolved monastery library Franziskaner Kloster Dettelbach.
USTC records four copies of Pars Hyemalis, three copies of Pars Aestivalis, and five copies of Epistolas quadragesimales in libraries.
Three pigskin bound volumes in octavo, 275+(5), 270+(10), 309+(2) leaves
These volumes are in very good shape, with some rubbing and wear to the bindings. The lower clasp of volume three is damaged. There is very light foxing and staining throughout.
