A 17th century account of The Council of Trent, originally held between 1545 and 1563 in Trent. It was the 19th ecumenical council of the Catholic Church. Prompted by the Protestant Reformation, it has been described as the embodiment of the Counter-Reformation.
There are three full page engravings of Popes Paul III, Julius III and Pius IV. There is an engraved title page.

On note of condition, this volume is in good shape, with minor rubbing and wear to the boards, with the title having peeled off the spine. The title page is detached, with minor foxing and staining throughout.
