Title: Praeceptorium, 1495(?). Unusually Rare Incunable Edition
Author:
Nicolas de Lyra; Henricus de Vrimaria
Publisher:
Paris, Georg Mittelhus?
Condition: Good

A late 15th century edition of de Lyra’s Praeceptorium, though actually written by Henricus de Vrimaria.

Also included is the anonymous Compendium de vita Antichristi, comprising of folios 66-68.

Though sharing the same collation, this edition does not have the printer devices of the 1519 Aubry/Gaudoul or 1520 Aubri imprint, or any of the Jean Petit editions. The only distinct possibility it can be at this point, is perhaps the Georg Mittelhus imprint, or one of the other incunable imprints with the same collation. There is no colophon that provides a proper distinction.

An old catalog note mistakenly collated this volume as having only 67 leaves. This is incorrect, as all 68 leaves are accounted for.

Worldcat records one existing copy of this edition in libraries.

One vellum bound volume in small octavo, 68 leaves

This volume is in good shape, with minor rubbing and wear to the binding. Quire d has been affected by old burns, causing some text loss to four leaves. There is minor foxing and staining scattered throughout, affecting some corners mostly.
