A scarce early 16th century edition of Auvergne’s Commentaries on the Epistles and Gospels: throughout the whole year.
Originally published in 1437, the work was published in more than one hundred editions across Europe between 1473 and 1500.
A French theologian and philosopher, he served as Bishop of Paris from 1228 until his death and was one of the first western European philosophers to engage with and comment extensively upon Aristotelian and Islamic philosophy.
This work is printed throughout in a gothic font, with detailed initials. There are two large woodcut titles, and 113 in-text woodcuts throughout, all by Urs Graf, with his monogram seen on the title woodcut.

This volume is in very good shape, with minimal rubbing or wear to the newer binding. There is worming throughout, obscuring several letters, with heavier worming to the outer margins up to leaf 22. Some of the page edges are worn. There is some staining throughout.
