An early 17th century pocket edition of a collection of poetry by Barlaeus, published in his lifetime.
A Renaissance humanist, theologian, poet and historian, Barlaeus wrote numerous volumes of Latin poetry, which were extremely popular, and was also involved in cartography and history.
There is a library stamp on the first free endpaper, and an owner’s entry of W, Goeree, dated 1644.
One vellum bound volume in 32mo, (16)+511+(1) pages
This volume is in very good shape, with minor rubbing and wear to the binding. There is very little foxing or staining throughout.
