Of Pithou, he was a French humanist lawyer and Calvinist, having written or co-writing many works that did significant harm to the Catholic Church during the mid-16th century.

On note of condition, this volume is in good shape, with wear and rubbing to the binding, and stress at the joints. There is little to no foxing or staining throughout.
