A tremendous leaf from a Latin manuscript antiphonary produced on parchment, with a massive historiated initial depicting Pentecost, produced in Italy (possibly the central region), and sometime during the early 16th century.

The letter is painted in a brilliant variety of colors, bordered with gold and blue, and illuminated halos to Christ and the various Saints in the initial. There are lines of text and musical notation to the recto and verso, written in a Gothic script, in black and red ink, and a smaller, but impressively detailed initial to the verso of the leaf.

One illuminated manuscript on parchment, 67 x 48.2 cm, Initial Size of 22.2 x 21.2 cm

This manuscript is in very good shape, with some wear and creasing to the parchment, and some soiling to the margins. There is a small tear to the upper margin, not affecting text or illumination.  Some of the text has faded, and a bit of the paint to the initial has lightly scraped away in placed. One corner has curled slightly.
