Author: Guillaume Rondelet
Publisher: Genevae, sumptibus S. Crispini
Condition: Very Good
An extremely scarce, early 17th century edition of Rondelet’s Complete Works, or Opera, now from the infinite errors which formerly abounded in errors, the study and work of I. Croquer of Poland ... purged and restored to its original glory for the benefit of medical students.
A Regius professor of medicine at the University of Montpellier, Rondelet was renowned as an anatomist and a naturalist with a particular interest in botany and ichthyology. His treatise on marine animals took two years to complete, becoming a standard reference work for about a century.
On top of his published worked, Rondelet was a popular and effective teacher and lecturer, with students-turned famed botanists, physicians, and more such as Charles de l'Écluse, Matthias de l'Obel, Jean Bauhin, and more.
