A first edition of the memoirs of Reverend John Blackadder, an eminent Presbyterian Covenanter preacher in Scotland during the period of the Commonwealth of England. Despite the government ban at the current period, he would continue to preach in the fields, and was eventually arrested and imprisoned in 1681, dying in jail on the Bass Rock.

On note of condition, this volume is in very good shape, with very little rubbing or wear to the boards, and light wear to the head of the spine. There is minor foxing throughout.
