Title: Manuscript Vulgate Bible Leaf Fragment, Circa 1275. German. Manuscript on Vellum. Recovered Manuscript Waste Binding
Condition: Good
A mid 13th century leaf fragment from a Latin Vulgate Bible produced by a German workshop, dating from the late mid 13th century. This leaf is written on vellum in brown ink, with an early Gothic script in two columns from both the front and back side. There are decorated initials in red and blue.
The leaf is written in Latin, using a gothic book hand script, with two decorated three-line initials, and clearly looks to have been a recovered manuscript waste binding.
This manuscript fragment is written in a two column and 21-line format.
One manuscript on parchment, 15.5 x 24 cm
This manuscript is in good shape, with wear and soiling to the leaf. There is a small hole to the outer margin, not affecting text, and a small hole in the centre, obscuring several leaves.
