Title: Manuscript Vulgate Bible Leaf, Circa 1250-1275. Paris Atelier. Folio 416
Condition: Very Good
A mid 13th century leaf from a Latin Vulgate Bible produced by a Parisian Atelier, dating from the mid 13th century. This leaf is written on vellum in black ink, with an early Gothic script in two columns from both the front and back side. There are Lombard style rubricated spring plant initials in red and blue, with extensively decorated vines and spring work, both also in red and blue.
The text is written in a 2 column and 46-line format.
It is possible this leaf was excised from a Vulgate Bible from the workshop of the Du Prat Atelier, bearing heavy similarities to pages from the copy in the Boston Public Library, in both dimensions and script.
One manuscript on parchment, 18 x 12.5 cm
On note of condition, this leaf is in very good shape, with minimal rubbing and wear to the vellum. There is some old staining to the side of the inner gutters.
