Title: Manuscript Bible Leaf, Circa 1180-1200. Paris Workshop. Ecclesiasticus 15:14 – 20:9. Manuscript on Parchment. 60 Lines of Romanesque Script
Condition: Good

A late 12th century leaf from a Latin Vulgate Bible produced by a Parisian workshop. The text is that from Ecclesiasticus 15:14 – 20:9. This leaf is written on parchment in black ink in a Romanesque script, in two columns from both the front and back side. There are several decorated initials in red and blue, which can serve as an additional indicator to the early dating, being of the style that Bibles were written before Stephen Langton standardised the chapter numbers.

This manuscript is written in a 2 column, 60-line format.

One manuscript on parchment, 32 x 22.2 cm

This manuscript is in good shape, with some browning to the vellum, heavier to the verso. As the leaf was used was a pastedown, there is significant text loss to the recto, when it was excised from the binding it was once used on.
