Title: Leaf from a Qur’an, Late 12th to Early 13th Century, Likely North Africa or Andalusia. Illuminated Manuscript on Vellum
Condition: Very Good

A leaf from a late 12th to early 13th century illuminated manuscript Qur’an, produced on parchment, likely in North Africa or Andalusia.

The manuscript is written in a sepia ink, in a Maghribi script. The surah verse is marked with an illuminated gold drop shape, and there are diacritic symbols in sepia ink, as well as vocalization points in red, yellow, and blue ink. There is also a small, illuminated roundel marker.

This manuscript is written in an 8-line format.

One illuminated manuscript on vellum, 19.9 x 15.9 cm

This manuscript is in very good shape, with minor staining and curling to the vellum. A bit of the ink had partially faded from age.
