Title: Leaf from a Latin Missal, Germany, Circa 1400-1450. Manuscript on Parchment, With Musical Notation. Recovered from a Binding
Condition: Very Good
A leaf from a manuscript Latin Missal, produced during the early to mid 15th century, likely from Germany. The text is written in Latin and is a pleasing Gothic script written in black ink, bearing large initials, with lines of musical notation on four-line staves in black ink.
The manuscript itself was once used as binder’s waste, saved from a bookbinding, and used as a cover, judging by the fold marks.
One manuscript on parchment, 29.5 x 18.9 cm
This manuscript is in very good shape, with some rubbing and staining to the vellum, and old soiling, heavier to the side that would have been exposed to the elements when still a bookbinding.
