Title: Leaf Fragment from a Missal, 14th Century. Germany. Latin Manuscript on Parchment. Hufnagel notation on a Single-Staff Line, with a Small Doodle. Spine Lining Recovered from a Binding
Condition: Good
A late 14th century leaf fragment, taken from a Missal, written in Latin, and produced in Germany, in a Gothic script. There are several red initials.
This manuscript is written in a 4-line format, with the remnants of three lines of Hufnagel notation on a single-staff line, a rather uncommon sight for the 14th century. There is also a small doodle to a large U initial.
This manuscript was once used as binder’s waste, saved from a bookbinding, and used as a spine lining, as is evident with the shape of the fragment.
One manuscript on parchment, 8.5 x 26.7 cm
This manuscript is in good shape, with rubbing and old staining to the parchment. Some of the script has faded.
