A first and only edition of Hanzan’s Kenkadou Zatsugaku, containing four of the five volume set.
Hanzan was a painter working in Osaka, and son of the Osaka kyoka poet Kirotei Rikimaru.
This work features a number of striking illustrations, including double-paged depictions of various animals, people, and landscapes.
There are 20, 19, 13, 15 pages of woodblock print illustrations in each volume respectively.
Four volumes in quarto, 33, 26, 25, 22 leaves
On note of condition, these volumes are in very good shape, with light rubbing and wear to the binding Volume four is lacking part of the title. There is some dampstaing present on the upper margin of volume three.
