An early 16th century, first Aldine edition, of the first collected Aldine edition of the prose works of Giovanni Gioviano Pontano, printed by the heirs of Aldo Manuzio and Andrea Torresano between June 1518 and September 1519. While the poems from the first volume have been reprinted from the 1505 edition, the other two are shown in print form from Aldus for the first time. The first two volumes contain works such as De principe, De liberalitate, and others, while the third volume contains scientific, astronomical, astrological works, as well as a translation of Centium Sententiae Ptolemaei, with commentary.
This copy of the works contains the oft lacking mythological and satirical Charon Dialogues, which were commonly censored and removed by the ecclesiastical authority.

These volumes are in very good shape, with minor rubbing and wear to the binding. The blank leaf to Volume 2 is lacking, and Leaf OO8 has a short, repaired tear within the text. There is scattered damp staining and occasional spotting throughout.
