A late 17th century edition of the Historia Augusta, the late Roman collection of biographies, written in Latin, of the Roman emperors, their junior colleagues, designated heirs and usurpers from 117 to 284.
Supposedly modeled on the similar work of Suetonius, The Twelve Caesars, it presents itself as a compilation of works by six different authors, collectively known as the Scriptores Historiae Augustae, though the true authorship, date of write, and historical accuracy has been up for dispute since the late 19th century, with a consensus largely agreeing there was only one author.
One vellum bound volume in small quarto, (16)+1049+(79) pages
This volume is in very good shape, with very little staining to the binding. One page is lacking a portion to the right-side margin, not affecting text. There is very little foxing or staining throughout.
