Author: Produced for MAZ
Condition: Very Good
A charming early 19th century German manuscript, also known as a gebetbuch.
The manuscript is written in a flowing hand and is beautifully enhanced with 52 five-line initials brilliantly colored in various hues and floral decorations. There is also one full page calligraphic page at page 50, and a half page example at page 70. A bright and colorful manuscript.
There are an owner’s initials embossed to the front cover, likely the one it was commissioned for, with the letters MAZ and the date of 1828.
The title page is lacking.
One finely bound manuscript in 12mo, 2-191 pages
This manuscript is in very good shape, with some rubbing and wear to the binding. There is a small hole to page 64-65, with minor letter loss. A few pages have suffered from old water damage, with the ink faded, or scraped away slightly on a few initials and designs. There is some light staining throughout, mostly marginal.
