Author: Jacobus Strada; Jean Louveau
Publisher: A Lyon, Par Iaques de Strada, et Thomas Guerin

The first French edition of the Epitome of the Treasure of Antiquities, that is to say, Portraits of the true medals of the Emperors of both East and West, describing the collection of the Mantuan antiquarian Jacobus Strada.
Considered one of the first works of numismatics, this collection contains more than 400 woodcuts on a black background depicting medals of emperors or empresses from Julius Caesar to Charles V.
The title page is lacking, but someone has supplemented it with the title page from the 1553 copy of Epitome Thesauri Antiquitatum, being the first Latin edition of this very same text, as well as an engraved portrait of Strada and another.
One finely bound volume in quarto, (22 of 23)+394+(30) pages
This volume is in very good shape, with some rubbing and wear to the binding, namely to the corners and hinges. There is some scattered staining throughout.
