A mid 16th century edition of Dasypodius’ German-Latin School Dictionary, which was widely published until the 17th century. The first edition was published in 1535, and from 1633 it appeared under the title "Dasypodius Catholicus". The dictionary was heavily distributed, with various editions.
This volume has been bound in blind stamped pigskin, with ornate tooling to the covers, and several figures to the borders. The volume bears a number of hand-made tabs, using manuscript waste, possibly dating from the 12th century.
Leaves aii – aiiii are lacking.
One pigskin bound volume in octavo, 451 of 454 leaves
This volume is in good shape, with heavy rubbing and wear to the binding. The title page is rubbed and has some restoration. The endpapers are lacking. There is heavy staining affecting several leaves, and some browning throughout.
