An early 1603 Latin edition of Jean Bodin's De Magorum Daemonomania Libri IV, also known commonly as "On the Demon-Mania of Witches".
First printed in French, 1580, the book provides and examines various historical examples of witchcraft and sorcery and trial cases, from exorcisms to werewolf encounters, the Works of Agrippa and more.
The work exploded in popularity, just like Kramer's witchhunting guide of the 15th century, with numerous editions and translations. Of those demonological texts printed during the period, it was certainly the most popular and was a key factor towards the increase of trials and executions for those tried and found guilty of witchcraft.
One finely bound volume in 12mo, 557 pages.
This volume is in very good shape, with minimal running and wear to the binding. There is some toning and browning to the pages.
