Author: Produced for Anton Sadelberger
Condition: Very Good
A charming late 18th century German manuscript entitled the Christian Catholic prayer booklet for every good Christian in which morning, evening, Mass, confession and communion are prayed to the Most Holy Trinity. To the Mother of God as well as on all the great feasts of the year, along with other saints and the dead.
The text is written in a flowing hand, primarily using black ink, in a Kurrent script as well as fine cursive, and the headers and larger initials are written in red or green ink in a Fraktur script. There are five, small, multi-colored floral vignettes. The title page itself is beautifully decorated with a large floral border, using both red and green.
Little has been discovered about the commissioner of the manuscript, Anton Sadelberger, originally residing in Fischbach.
One finely bound manuscript in 12mo, (2)+180 pages
This volume is in very good shape, with rubbing and wear to the binding. The heavy usage of iron gall ink or something similar has caused a small hole to obscure several leaves on pages 83-84. There is some foxing and minor staining throughout.
