Author: Catholic Church; Council of Trent
Publisher: Romae, In aedibus Populi Romani apud Paulum Manutium
Condition: Very Good
A scarce and rare mid 16th century Aldine edition of the Catechism of the Catholic Church following the decrees of the Council of Trent. It is an instructive guide to either learn or teach the foundations of Catholicism, based on the Apostles' Creed, the Decalogue and the Lord's Prayer.
This is an important specimen of the Aldine press’s output, since it was published by Paolo Manuzio during his stay in Rome as the first official papal printer in history. He was commissioned by the Catholic Church to translate the Catechism from Greek to Latin.
There is a bookplate for one Alex M Hudnut.
