Title: Bifolio Leaf Fragment from a Liturgical Text, 12th Century. Latin Manuscript on Parchment. 6 Lines of Proto-gothic Script. Recovered from a Binding, With Pastedown Remnants
Condition: Good
A 12th century leaf fragment, taken from some type of liturgical manuscript, written in Latin, and in a late Carolingian-Gothic (Proto-Gothic) script.
This manuscript was once used as binder’s waste, saved from a bookbinding, and used as a pastedown, extremely evident as it is still attached to part of another layer of pastedown, which seems to have been either an early German incunable, or a very early 16th century imprint.
This manuscript fragment is written in a 6-line format.
One manuscript on parchment, 4.6 x 31 cm
This manuscript is in good shape, with some rubbing and old staining to the parchment, and several cracks and splits.
