Title: Biblia Latina Cum Glossa Ordinaria Walafridi Strabonis, Secunda Pars Huius Operis, 1498. The Second Volume of the Holy Bible with Nicolas de Lyra’s Commentaries. Nicely Rubricated
Author: Catholic Church; Nicolas de Lyra
Publisher: Basel, Johann Froben, and Johann Petri de Langendorff
Condition: Very Good

A late 15th century edition of the Latin Bible with the ordinary gloss of Walafrid Strabo and others and the interlinear of Anselm of Laudun and with the postilli and moralities of Nicholas of Lyra and the expositions of William the Briton on all the prologues of St. Jerome and the additions of Paul of Burgh.

This volume is the second volume of six, containing all the Biblical Books from Joshua to Judith, with accompanied commentary glosses.

The work is printed in a single column format and flanked by two additional columns for the commentary glosses. There is considerable rubrication throughout with red and blue initials and similarly painted rubrics.

This volume bears two ex-libris plates, including one for Fabien Gruhier.

Leaves b8-c3 are lacking, replaced in facsimile.

The volume is accompanied with a more recent slipcase.

One finely bound volume in folio, 313 of 317 leaves.

This volume is in very good shape, with minor rubbing and wear to the binding, heavier to the hinges. The last two leaves are more heavily worn and torn at the edges, being mounted onto new leaves for preservation. There is very little staining or soiling throughout the rest of the volume.
