Title: Benedicti Lampridii nec non Joannis Baptistae Amalthei Carmina, 1550
Author: Benedetto Lampridio
Publisher: Venetiis, apud G. Jolitum de Ferrariis
Condition: Very Good

A mid 16th century first edition of the poems of Benedetto Lampridio, with some verses by Giovanni Battista at the end.

Born near the end of the 15th century, Lampridio taught as a teacher at the Collegio dei Greci. He was also involved in a project headed by Pope Leo X for devlopning a new printing press to compete against the Aldus printing house. He is often remembered as the first Italian poet who tried to imitate the verse of Pindar.

There are woodcut initials throughout.

One volume in 12mo, 84 leaves

This volume is in very good shape, with some minor rubbing and wear to the binding, and worming to the spine. There is a very small wormhole at the top of leaves 81 to 84, partially obscuring a letter. There is some foxing and staining throughout. The binding is splayed.
