A mid 14th century leaf from Pope Innocent the IV’s Apparatus in Quinque Libros Decretalium, his commentary on the Decretals of Pope Gregory IX. In it he argues from a legal basis that the pope had supreme authority as God's representative on earth, and went further, extending papal rule 'not just over Christians but also all infidels, since Christ holds power over all'.
The manuscript is written in a Latin Gothic textualis rotunda script and in a two-column format, in brown ink, bearing one illuminated three-line initial.
