A Late Edo to Showa Period manuscript album, being a monumental collection of 47 beautiful paintings in tanzaku strip format, all attributed to at least 40 distinct artists of the 19th to 20th century, including some rather notable examples and literati figures.
The subjects are all varying and different in nature and style, but there are considerable focuses on natural landscapes and floral scenes, and quite a few have been brilliantly illuminated or highlighted in gold, and at least six are on silk or some type of fabric. Watercolors, ink wash, Southern School styles and more, there is no shortage of variety and vivid work here.

Each painting has been mounted on another layer of paper for preservation, and in some cases thicker, fine strip boards, then laid down and bound in a large album, with brocade decorated covers against white flowering swirls.

This painting album is in very good shape, with minimal rubbing and wear to the covers, with a few dents to the outer edges of the thick leaves. There is very little foxing or soiling throughout, and only one painting shows signs of wear and a few creases. Two of the paintings that were mounted by glue are detached.
