First soldier, then slave, and lastly historian and hagiographer of priestly and royal ancestries, Josephus recorded Jewish history in the first century, with significant events such as the first Jewish-Roman War. Outside of the Gospels, Josephus is often credited for recording some of the earliest history of Christ.
