Title: A Tremendous Emakimono Handscroll of Paintings and Sketches, Circa 1800-1850. Dozens of Birds and Other Creatures, Floral Compositions, Mythological Figures, and Landscapes, 10 Meters in Length
Condition: Very Good
A Late Edo Period, early to mid 19th century emakimono handscroll, without any title or signature, being of monumental size, roughly 10 meters in length alone. There are dozens of paintings and numerous sketches, with various creatures displayed, from birds, to fish, and more, as well as several historical or mythological figures, and even a dragon. There are also numerous floral compositions, mostly done in various colors, and the last 2-3 meters appear to be Southern School style landscapes copied from existing woodblocks, but very skillfully copied, nonetheless.
The emakimono has been written on thin washi paper and bound in scroll format, without any covers. A cardboard tube has been loosely added to maintain some sort of core and provide pseudo jikusaki (knobs).

This emakimono is in good shape, with some rubbing and wear to the initial portion, and scattered soiling and staining in places. There are a handful of scattered, pinprick holes and edge tears throughout.
