A late 19th to early 20th century Tibetan thangka, depicting a Manifestation of Padmasambhava, or Guru Rinponche, accompanied by three heavenly and wrathful deities.
A tantric Buddhist Vajra master from medieval India, according to hagiographical sources, he fully revealed the Vajrayana in Tibet, sometime during the 8th or 9th century. He is considered an emanation or Nirmāṇakāya (earthly manifestation) of Shakyamuni Buddha as foretold by the Buddha himself.
The composition has been brightly and beautifully painted, with some fine shading techniques to the clouds in particular.

This painting is in very good shape, with minor wear and cracking to the composition, with some loss to Padmasambhava and two of the deities.
