A rather interesting, albeit fragmentary, mid 15th century compilation of various liturgical and theological texts, with the beginning of each text lacking. The first text begins with a compilation of homilies or commentaries, with each chapter with a two-line Lombard in red and 2-3-line headings. The first present heading is "Nupcie facte sunt in chana galilee et erat m(ate)r". In the corresponding explicit "in illa co(m)pilat(i)one" a Joh(ann) vn Isend is named, perhaps the author? There is also a dating of 1445 or 1440, which is appropriate to the script. The second text also bears numerous 2-3 line Lombards in red, beginning with "Ecce rex tuus venit tibi”. There is a bizarre half sheet, with an undated explicit bearing the formula "Maria m(ate)r gr(atia)em(ate)r mi(sericordia)e tu nos hoste p (ro)tege i hora mort(is) suscipe". An interesting manuscript well worth the additional study.
The second text bears some handwritten marginalia.
This manuscript is written in a Gothic bastarda script, in brown ink. There are numerous, ornate Lombard initials throughout, mostly in red, with some blue and green examples as well, some bearing featherwork, and general rubrication through the volume.
This manuscript is written in a 2 column, 46-line format.
Three compiled manuscripts in folio, 72, 52 ½, 21 leaves
This manuscript is in good shape, with minor rubbing and wear to the binding. There is minor browning and scattered staining throughout, and at least 30 leaves bear damp staining to the upper margin. There are a few ink stains as well, and the last page of the third text is torn with restorations. Using the power of my heavily congested nose, it seems the previous owner smoked some type of tobacco, and I leave it up to the future owner on the best method for removing the scent.
