Title: A Pair of Yamato-E Fan Paintings with Landscapes and a Phoenix, Circa 1650-1750. Beautifully Illuminated Fan Paintings, in Southern School Styles
Condition: Good
Two Early Edo Period, 17th to 18th century Yamato-e fan paintings, depicting a pair of beautiful landscapes, the smaller one showing a large, detailed tree with a small river to the side, and the larger one depicting a similar scene, but with a large and beautiful phoenix, or some other type of mythical bird.
Each painting has been lovingly decorated in gold leaf and various hues, and it is likely an artist trained in Southern School methods produced these.
Each painting has been mounted on backing paper for sturdier preservation.
Two illuminated yamato-e fan paintings, 16.5 x 14.5 cm and 20.4 x 56 cm
These paintings are in good shape, with some wear and flaking in places.
