Title: A Painting Album of Noh Theatre Scenes, Circa 1930-1950. 28 Pages of Hand Colored Amateur Illustrations
Author: Unknown
Condition: Very Good
A Showa Period, early to mid 20th century painting album, being a rather amateur series of various scenes from different Noh performances, all done vividly in color. The album is unsigned, and one wonders if these were produced by an attendee of these performances. There are 28 full pages of illustrations in full color to both sides of the leaves.
The paintings have been finely bound in orihon album format, with decorated, orange brocade fabric covers, with diamond patterns. The endpapers have been beautifully decorated with gold sprays, and there is a slipcase.
One painting album in small quarto (21 x 16.6 cm), 15 double sided leaves
This manuscript is in very good shape, with minimal rubbing or wear to the binding. There is foxing and soiling throughout.
