Title: A Painting Album of Bird Landscapes and Calligraphy, Circa 1650-1750. 24 Illuminated Leaves of Calligraphy and Silk Paintings
An Early to Mid Edo Period, 17th to mid 18th century painting album of beautiful silk bird landscapes, and fine, illuminated calligraphy in shikishi format, produced by an unknown artist I cannot recognize. The 12 paintings display various seasonal flowers and different birds in fine detail, and the 12 leaves of calligraphy are beautifully decorated with gold spray and more.
The album has come with a contemporary note, indicating the catalog of entitled works by the author, though the calligraphy is such that I cannot make it out.
All the paintings and calligraphy have been laid down and bound in a brocade decorated album, with green and yellow with golden flowers. There is a somewhat battered wooden box to accompany the album, preserving the contents.

The binding is broken in two places, the gatherings in three solid pieces, with minor rubbing and wear to the corner covers. There is light, scattered soiling and staining throughout.
