An Early to Late Meiji Period, late 19th to early 20th century painting album, likely commissioned by a client, and compiled by various students of the Chinese Southern School, with their respective seals and signatures.
There are 44 pages of different, colorful sumi-e ink wash paintings pasted in, primarily displaying various landscapes and floral scenes, some figures, and old objects. A few have been enhanced with color.
The paintings have been finely bound in album format, with decorated, dulled yellow brocade covers, with flowering designs.
One painting album in orihon format (20.8 x 19.8 cm), 48 leaves
This album is in very good shape, with some rubbing and wear to the brocade fabric to the covers. There is scattered, foxing and staining throughout.
