Title: Leaf from a Missal, Germany, Circa 1450. Latin Manuscript on Parchment, With Musical Notation. Recovered from a Binding
Condition: Very Good
A leaf from a manuscript Latin Missal, produced during the mid 15th century, likely from Germany. The text is written in Latin and is a pleasing Gothic script written in black ink, bearing large initials, with lines of musical notation on four-line staves in black ink.
The manuscript itself was once used as binder’s waste, saved from a bookbinding, and used as a pastedown.
One manuscript on parchment, 34.7 x 24.2 cm
This manuscript is in very good shape, with some rubbing and soiling to the vellum, heavier to the side exposed to the elements over the centuries.
