Title: Leaf Fragment from A Latin Missal, Germany, 14th Century. Manuscript on Parchment. 24 Lines of Gothic Script and Musical Notation. Recovered from a Binding
Condition: Poor
A 14th century leaf from a manuscript Latin Missal, produced in Germany. The text is written in Latin, and is a Gothic script written in black ink, bearing ornate two-line initials in red and blue, as well as several lines of musical notation.
This fragment was once used as binder’s waste, having been used as a cover to a work on the Council of Trent.
This manuscript fragment is written in a double column, 24-line format.
One manuscript on parchment, 25 x 20.3 cm
This manuscript is in poor shape, with heavy rubbing and wear to the parchment, with the parchment heavily warped and curled in places. There are several small holes, obscuring text. Despite the damage, much of the text is still remarkably readable.
