A late 16th century German illuminated manuscript book of prayer, containing a collection of psalms, and bearing an outlandishly long title, roughly translated: “The Content of this Book is a Number of Beautiful, Devotional and Comforting Psalms, each of them useful and comforting at all times to speak of a noble and well-born person, except for devotion and zeal”. The manuscript is dated January 1580. There are two monograms following the monogram, one being A.F.V.Z, and the other, G.F.V.S.
The text has been written in a beautiful script in black ink, with numerous initials in gold, as well and other initials and numbering for psalms in red. Each and every page is framed in gold over red.
The volume has been neatly bound in embossed vellum, with bright and shining brocade pastedowns.

This manuscript is in very good shape, with some of the embossing rubbing off to the binding. The book block is slightly cracked, with minor finger-staining throughout, and a bit of reddish discoloration in places, likely the borders inks smearing.
