A mid 18th century edition of The Holy Bible, containing the Old and New Testaments, Newly translated out of the original tongues, and with the former translations diligently compared and revised, by His Majesty's special command. Appointed to be read in churches. This is the first of two volumes, ending with Ecclesiasticus and the Song of Solomon. The majority of the Old Testament.
This volume most recently belonged to the library collection of Mulberry House, a former rectory of High Ongar church.
This copy has been beautifully bound in full red morocco leather, with tooling to the spine and boards.
One finely bound volume in 32mo (14.2 x 7.6 cm), A-Ff8
This volume is in very good shape, with some rubbing and wear to the binding, heavier to the spine and edges. The front endpaper and pastedowns are lacking, with the first and last pages being soiled, and the title page being slightly chipped. There is very little foxing or staining throughout.
