Author: Baldus de Ubaldis
Publisher: Milan, Uldericus Scinzenzeler
Condition: Very Good
An extremely scarce late 15th century edition of de Ubaldius’ Baldus Commentaries to the Decretals of Gregory IX (Liber Extra and the Liber Sextus) that ends at X 3.2.8. This is the second of two volumes.
The volume is present in a contemporary pigskin binding over wooden boards, with blind tooling, and repeating icons of a lily with a diamond border, a Maria scroll, and lamb. There are also narrow strips of manuscript waste inside, from what appears to be a 12th century or early manuscript, with musical neumes, used to reinforce the inner hinges.
ISTC records 10 existing copies of this edition in libraries.
One volume in large folio, 178 leaves
This volume is in very good shape, with some wear and worming to the binding. The first and last handful of leaves have been wormed, with minor worming throughout. The lower margins have varying degrees of browning and damp staining. The title page has a blanked stamp between the two columns.
