An extremely scarce, late 17th century French translation of the Aphorisms of Hippocrates, following the veracity of the Greek text: with a mixture of paraphrases to clarify the more obscure passages. And The Key to this Doctrine by Means of the Circulation of the Blood, and Other New Discoveries of This Century in Anatomy and Chemistry: a work necessary for physicians, surgeons, and apothecaries, and useful to many other kinds of curious and learned persons, as the preface to the reader amply demonstrates.
Up until the 19th century, the Aphorisms were considered to be a Bible of medical texts, and a rather critical one at that.
The text has been broken down into several books, with separate, secondary title pages.

This volume is in good shape, with rubbing and wear to the binding, and splitting to the lower front hinge. There is staining and light soiling throughout.
